Two patients in their 60s with refractory angina pectoris and diabetes mellitus were featured in the study. After being diagnosed with TGCV, they began taking tricaprin as part of their diet. The results were astonishing: within months, the symptoms of these patients improved significantly. Follow-up coronary computed tomography angiography showed marked regression of atherosclerotic lesions in coronary arteries, with luminal dilation. Moreover, the amount of triglycerides in the heart arteries decreased.
What makes this discovery even more innovative is that the regression of atherosclerotic lesions occurred due to increased triglyceride lipolysis within cells, representing a completely novel therapeutic approach to coronary atherosclerosis. Thus far, atherosclerosis regression has been primarily associated with reducing blood lipid levels, but this study reveals a promising new path.
These findings have the potential to offer hope to patients who do not respond to conventional heart disease treatments. While more research is needed to validate these results on a larger scale, the prospect of a more comprehensive approach to heart disease treatment is exciting.
